Anochaa LG Chairman Installs Prepaid Meters After Clearing 18-Year Electricity Debt

The Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area, **Hon. Rome Ibekwe**, has successfully installed prepaid electricity meters across various departments of the local government secretariat after paying off over 18 years of accumulated electricity bills owed to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC). This significant development ensures reliable power supply and aims to improve productivity within the secretariat.

On assuming office, Hon. Ibekwe discovered the outstanding debt and promptly settled it to restore stable electricity, which will supplement the council’s limited solar supply. The installation of prepaid meters aligns with the chairman’s vision to enhance the working conditions of local government employees and foster improved service delivery. Hon. Ibekwe expressed his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises, emphasizing that a steady power supply would boost workforce productivity and contribute to the growth of Anaocha.

**Barr. Peter Emeneh**, Deputy Mayor of Anaocha, praised the chairman for his proactive approach, describing the restoration of electricity as a “miracle” that has brought comfort and improved operations across the secretariat. He further assured that the administration was committed to solving existing challenges for a more prosperous Anaocha.

**Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Asonibe**, Councillor representing Aguluzigbo, commended Hon. Ibekwe’s actions, noting that the previous inverter system had been faulty and inadequate, serving only a few offices.
