The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has scheduled the state’s local government elections for Saturday, September 28, 2024. This announcement follows the recent inauguration of the Commission’s members by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who emphasized the importance of ensuring free, fair, and credible elections.
During a press conference in Awka, the Chairman of ANSIEC, Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe, informed political parties that the election timetable, schedule of activities, and other pertinent details will be released at the Commission’s Headquarters on Thursday, August 14, 2024.
Magistrate Osakwe highlighted that the Commission is tasked with overseeing local government council elections in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and the Anambra Electoral Law 2024. She assured the public of the Commission’s readiness to conduct what she described as the best local government elections the state has ever seen.
The press briefing was attended by several members of the Commission, including Sir Chinedu Nnalue, Mrs. Bernardine Obande, Barr. Osita Igbokwe, Helen Umeh, and Mr. Emeka Okeke.
