The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has initiated the distribution of non-sensitive election materials to the 21 council areas in preparation for the upcoming local government elections.
The distribution, which is taking place under tight security, involves more than 21 vehicles as Electoral Officers take charge of the materials in anticipation of the statewide election.
Speaking to journalists at the commission’s headquarters in Awka, the ANSIEC Chairman, Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe, explained that the materials are being sent from Awka to the local government areas, from where they will be further dispatched to polling units. This process is expected to ensure a timely start for the election, scheduled for Saturday.
Magistrate Osakwe emphasized that the election will be conducted across all polling units in the state, with a focus on ensuring a peaceful, free, fair, and credible electoral process.
