In preparation for the upcoming local government elections on Saturday, September 28, 2024, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially launched its campaign with a rally in Awka. Led by the party’s National Leader and Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the event attracted a large turnout at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, where APGA candidates and supporters gathered to drum up support.
Local government chairmanship candidates and councillors from the state’s 21 local government areas paraded in vibrant APGA insignias, seeking to win over voters for the party.
During his address, Governor Soludo underscored the importance of grassroots elections in advancing development across the state. He appealed for public support to ensure that APGA continues its developmental agenda. “The conduct of this election is a promise made and a promise kept,” he stated, assuring citizens that the election will be free, fair, and guided by the principle of one person, one vote.
The State Chairman of APGA, Barrister Ifeatu Obiokoye, also affirmed the party’s readiness to contest the election, highlighting its commitment to grassroots governance.
In their remarks, key party figures, including APGA National Chairman Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, Iyom Bianca Ojukwu, Rt. Hon. Paschal Agbodike, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, Ozonkpu Victor Oye, and Dozie Nwankwo, emphasized APGA’s deep connection with the people of Anambra.
