Earlier today, Wednesday, the 27th of November, 2024, five justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria delivered two judgements affirming Barrister Ezeokenwa Sly Jr as the authentic National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

In the lead judgement read by Justice Stephen Adah, the apex court clarified that the reliefs it granted in 2021, did not state that Edozie Njoku was the chairman of the party.

He stated that the issue of party leadership was an internal matter of the party and that renders it non-justiceable.

Justice Adah held that it was wrong for Njoku to have gone before the lower court to enforce a judgement that had nothing to enforce and faulted the lower courts for wrongly relying on the previous decision of the Supreme Court to declare Njoku as the National Chairman of APGA.

The five-member panel of the supreme court unanimously delivered judgements validating Chief Sly Ezeokenwa’s leadership of the party and slammed fine of N20m each against Chief Edozie Njoku and one other respondent.

Reacting on the landmark judgement, the national Chairman of APGA, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa stated that the Judiciary has come through to save our nation and party.

Said he, ” That is what it has done today with the erudite judgments delivered today by the Supreme Court concerning the leadership of our party. “The judgments today have affirmed the convention that brought us to office and that we are in charge of the running of the party’s affairs.

“So, there is no longer speculation or doubt about the actual leadership of APGA. By the judgments, I, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa has been affirmed as the Chairman of APGA

Moreover, Ezeokenwa stated it was unfortunate that money has been expended and party’s structures destabilised just because of someone’s selfish and inordinate ambition.
