Archbishop Ibezim: “Fathers Are the Cornerstone of Every Home”

Fathers are the glory of every home, and their sacrifices and support are crucial for a safe and nurturing environment, stated Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, Archbishop of the Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, in his 2024 message for the Fathers’ Sunday celebration of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion.

In his address, themed “Christian Fathers Are Living Testimony of God’s Glory,” Archbishop Ibezim emphasized that God created man in His image, just below the angels, and entrusted them with the stewardship of creation. He urged Christian fathers to seek Jesus Christ sincerely, allowing His glory to be reflected in their lives so they can fulfill their divine potential.

The Archbishop called on men to fully surrender to Christ’s lordship, highlighting that manifesting God’s glory requires fearing Him and adhering to His commandments. He also advised men to love their families in alignment with Christ’s kingdom, ensuring their salvation through Jesus Christ.

Venerable Vincent Nkemdilim, Chaplain of the Fathers’ Fellowship in Awka Diocese and Vicar of Saint Mathews Anglican Church, Amawbia, reinforced the Archbishop’s message. He reminded fathers of their God-given role as heads of their families, cautioning them against abusing their authority to mistreat wives and children. Venerable Nkemdilim urged fathers to fear God, keep His commandments, and maintain ethical conduct in their daily lives.
