ARCON Announces 2024 National Advertising Conference in Abuja

The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), in collaboration with sectoral bodies in the marketing communications industry, has unveiled plans for the 2024 edition of the National Advertising Conference. The event, themed *“Navigating the Shifts: Technology, Culture, and New Business Models,”* will take place in Abuja from November 13 to 15, 2024.

During the unveiling in Lagos, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Tunji Adeyinka, stated that the conference will address emerging trends and innovations shaping the future of advertising. “2024 has introduced economic shifts, with advertisers facing high production costs and reduced consumer spending,” Adeyinka noted, pointing to the challenges presented by inflation and economic pressures.

According to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Nigeria’s GDP grew by 2.98% in Q1 2024, but inflation rose significantly from 22.41% in May 2023 to 33.95% in May 2024. PwC’s analysis valued the advertising industry at N605.2 billion in 2023, with projections reaching N893 billion by 2028. Adeyinka emphasized the need for new growth strategies to navigate these economic realities.

ARCON’s Director General, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, highlighted the importance of the conference in strengthening the integrity of the marketing communications sector, urging stakeholders to seize the opportunity to engage in critical discussions and network with industry peers.

The event will feature notable speakers such as Dr. John Momoh, Chairman of Channels Media Group, and Dr. Tayo Aduloju, CEO of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, among others. Plenary and breakout sessions will cover topics like generative AI, marketing trends, technology, and youth culture, offering 21 sessions in total over three days.

This year’s conference aims to help professionals refine their skills, adopt innovative business models, and stay ahead of industry shifts.
