Asphalt Re-Laying Work Begins on Ekwueme Square to New Government House Road in Awka

Construction work has begun on the re-laying of asphalt along the road leading to Ekwueme Square from the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, a project that is part of the ongoing development surrounding the new Anambra State Government House under construction by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Asphalt work is already visible on one side of the road, extending up to the X-Fit axis. GELD construction firm workers have been spotted in full force, with several articulated vehicles transporting asphalt to the site.

Speaking to ABS News, the project foreman, Engineer Emmanuel ThankGod, revealed that the asphalt is being laid at a width of 14 meters and a thickness of 5 meters, which will be compacted to a final thickness of 4 meters. Engineer ThankGod further confirmed that the opposite side of the road, leading to the new Government House, has already been completed with a compacted thickness of 5 meters.

He assured the public that the team is working diligently to meet the deadline set by Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the completion of the project.
