Atiku Abubakar’s Aide Blames PDP Governors for Party Crisis

Demola Olarewaju, Special Assistant on Digital Media and Strategy to former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has blamed the party’s ongoing issues on its governors. In a recent post on X, Olarewaju labeled any state governor associating with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as a “traitor” within the PDP.

He stated, “Wike’s entire relevance in Nigeria’s political space is directly dependent on his ability to rock PDP’s boat and make it less formidable.” Olarewaju went on to assert that governors are at the root of the party’s crises since 2015, pointing out that major conflicts in the PDP can be traced back to the “zoning” of National Working Committee (NWC) offices to individual governors after the party lost power in Aso Rock.

He further indicated that the current tensions within the party may not resolve easily, urging nationalists to remain flexible regarding party platforms.
