Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, alongside key political figures including ex-governors Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Gabriel Suswam of Benue, Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa, and Achike Udenwa of Imo, visited former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna. The visit, which took place during the Sallah celebrations, was primarily for Sallah greetings, though Atiku mentioned that discussions included plans to form a strong opposition ahead of the 2027 election.
Atiku confirmed that there are ongoing efforts by major political parties to unite and form a robust opposition. However, he clarified that the visit was unrelated to those efforts. In a social media post, Atiku shared that he had a delightful time with Buhari, recalling the president’s humor and reflecting on their long-standing relationship. El-Rufai also emphasized that the visit was solely for Sallah homage, as he had been unavailable during the festivities.
This visit comes shortly after similar Sallah visits from APC governors to Buhari, signaling continued political dialogue within the country.
