Awka Indigenes in the Diaspora Union organized a vibrant end-of-year get-together to celebrate their achievements in 2024, strengthen bonds among members, and strategize for 2025. The event, held in Awka, brought together indigenes from various parts of the world alongside members of the home-front branch.
The President General of the union, Barrister Godwin Moneke, represented by Mr. Ifeanyi Anaekie, Chairman of the Home-Front branch, praised members for their contributions to the union’s progress. He highlighted the group’s dedication to uplifting the less privileged, exemplified by their visit to a motherless babies’ home during the festivities.
Barrister Moneke also commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts in transforming Awka into a true capital city but urged the state government to address lingering insecurity issues.
Chief Nwonwuka Mba, the eldest member of the union, emphasized the importance of unity, noting that collective goals can only be achieved through togetherness.
Other members, including Chief Arinze Anigbogu, Mrs. Nkoli Ugboma, Chief Obinna Anaeto, and Chief Ebuka Ikegbunem, expressed confidence in the union’s leadership and gratitude for its growth since its establishment in 2018.
The event ended on a high note, as members reaffirmed their commitment to community development and the union’s goals for the coming year.
