Awka South Two Constituents Praise Lawmaker Okoye for Enhancing Healthcare Services

Residents of Awka South Two have lauded their lawmaker, Right Honourable Chukwuma Okoye, Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, for his significant contributions to improving healthcare services in the constituency.

Okoye received accolades for constructing a new primary health centre in Uruh village, Mbaukwu, within the Awka South Council Area. During the commissioning of the project, Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, praised Okoye for addressing the healthcare needs of the community. He highlighted that the facility would enhance access to healthcare services, especially in line with the state government’s free antenatal and delivery services.

Commissioner Obidike assured that the facility would be fully utilized soon and urged residents to utilize local primary healthcare centres and avoid self-medication and unlicensed health services. He also encouraged well-off individuals to partner with the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency to enlist less privileged community members in the state health insurance scheme.

Pharmacist Chisom Uchem, Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, commended the quality and design of the centre, describing it as the best in the state. She advised the community to take proper ownership of the project.

Right Honourable Okoye handed over the keys of the facility to the state government and the community, expressing his motivation to build the facility due to the community’s challenges in accessing primary healthcare services. He noted that the project complements the state government’s efforts to revitalize the health sector and pledged to continue funding projects that directly benefit the people.

Community spokesperson Mr. Nwokediuko Okpala thanked Okoye for his relentless efforts to improve the living standards and development of the town. He stated that the new primary healthcare centre would significantly benefit the community.

Comrade Shedrach Ezeilo, Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Mbaukwu ward, apologized for the community’s poor support for APGA in the last elections. He promised a renewed commitment to the party, noting that they are ready to welcome over 700 new members into APGA.
