Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Aderigbigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has secured four nominations for the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards. The nominations, announced on Wednesday, highlight her rapid rise in the global music scene.
Ayra Starr is in the running for ‘Best African Act’, ‘Best Push’, ‘Best Afrobeats’, and ‘Best New Artist’. Joining her in the ‘Best Afrobeats’ category are fellow Nigerian stars Tems, Burna Boy, Asake, and Rema.
South African singer Tyla also garnered four nominations, while American sensation Taylor Swift leads the pack with seven nominations.
The 30th edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards will be held on November 10, 2024, at Manchester’s Co-op Live in the UK.
This recognition cements Ayra Starr’s status as one of Africa’s most promising musical talents.
