Rinsola Babajide expressed her delight after being named in Nigeria’s final 24-player squad for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Head coach Justine Madugu announced the roster on Friday, including 11 players who will make their tournament debuts.
The 27-year-old forward, formerly of Brighton & Hove Albion, will represent the Super Falcons at a major international competition for the first time. Upon learning of her selection, Babajide took to social media to share her excitement, writing on X: “Guyssss, I’m going to my first senior major tournament!!! it’s the greatest honour knowing I’ll be representing my country at the African Cup of Nations!! Thank you for all the love & support up until this point! God did @ngsuper\_falcons.”
Madugu’s squad will now begin preparations ahead of the tournament, aiming to build on Nigeria’s strong history in the competition and challenge for continental honours.
