Barcelona secured their 15th Spanish Super Cup title in spectacular fashion, defeating arch-rivals Real Madrid 5-2 in Jeddah on Sunday.
Real Madrid struck first with an early goal by Kylian Mbappé in the 5th minute, giving the La Liga champions a promising start. However, Barcelona responded with an extraordinary comeback to seize control of the game.
Lamine Yamal equalized in the 22nd minute, setting the stage for a dominant first-half performance. Goals from Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Alejandro Balde saw Barça head into the break with a commanding 4-1 lead.
Raphinha extended the lead further just two minutes into the second half, but the game took a dramatic turn when Barcelona’s goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny was shown a red card in the 56th minute for a foul on Mbappé.
Real Madrid capitalized on the advantage, with Rodrygo converting a free-kick in the 60th minute. However, Barcelona’s defense held firm, preventing any further comeback attempts from their rivals.
The win marks Barcelona’s first Super Cup title since 2023, reinforcing their dominance in Spanish football and adding another chapter to the storied rivalry with Real Madrid.
