Barcelona has confirmed a new kit deal with American sportswear giant Nike, valued at up to 1.7 billion euros ($1.82 billion) through to 2038, according to Spanish reports. The partnership, which began in 1998, will continue beyond the expiration of the current agreement in 2028.
In a statement, Barcelona and Nike described the agreement as the start of a new chapter for both brands, though the exact duration and financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The club had previously attempted to terminate its existing contract with Nike earlier this year but was blocked by a Spanish court in July, which ruled against their efforts.
Despite ongoing financial challenges, which saw Barcelona sell 25% of their television rights to US private equity group Sixth Street in 2022, the new partnership is seen as a significant boost to the club’s revenue streams. The deal strengthens Nike’s long-standing association with the Catalan club, which remains one of the most valuable brands in global sports.
