Celebrations were in full swing as former Big Brother Naija reality star, Beauty Tukura, basked in the glory of her victory at the 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), held at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos yesterday. Emerging victorious once again, Tukura clinched the coveted Best Dressed Female Award for the second consecutive year, affirming her fashion prowess and dominance on the red carpet.
Taking to Instagram to share her joy, Tukura proudly displayed her award, declaring her intention to maintain her winning streak indefinitely. In her post, she confidently proclaimed, “Still Best Dressed 2023/2024… until further notice #AMVCA10,” reaffirming her status as a fashion icon.
Joining Tukura in the winners’ circle was fellow Big Brother Naija alumna, Venita Akpofure, who also secured the Best Dressed Female award for the second consecutive year at the AMVCA Cultural Day and Opening Night celebration on Friday.
Amidst the glitz and glamour of the event, ‘Breath of Life’ emerged as the biggest winner of the night, scooping an impressive six awards. The film, directed by BB Sasore, clinched accolades for Best Movie, Best Director, Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Trailblazer, cementing its status as a cinematic triumph.
However, the evening also saw surprises and disappointments, as Funke Akindele’s acclaimed film, ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ failed to secure any awards despite its record-breaking success at the box office. Despite becoming the first Nigerian movie to gross over N1 billion in cinemas last December, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ was overlooked, leaving fans and critics stunned by the snub.
