Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, has called on his fans to respect the law and avoid the act of spraying money at parties following his release from Kirikiri Correctional Centre on Monday. Bobrisky served a six-month sentence for abusing the naira after he was caught spraying it at an event.
In an interview with GoldMyneTV shortly after his release, Bobrisky advised, “Follow the rules, abide by the law. Don’t spray money, unless you’ll be a landlord inside Kirikiri.” He emphasized that even seemingly minor legal infractions can have serious consequences.
Bobrisky expressed gratitude for the support from friends during his incarceration, stating, “I’m only focusing on my friends who were there for me, and I’m grateful. I’m not thinking about any other person.”
Following his release, Bobrisky hosted a party, which was captured in a video circulating online.
Bobrisky was sentenced to six months imprisonment on April 12, 2024, for the misuse of naira. During his court appearance, he pleaded for leniency and expressed a desire to use his platform to educate others about the legal repercussions of money spraying. “I will do a video on my page and educate people about spraying money. I will not repeat this,” he told the judge, expressing regret for his actions.
At Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Bobrisky was treated like other inmates. An official, speaking anonymously, confirmed that he underwent a standard examination upon admission. The examination revealed no realignment of gender or genital organs, consistent with his public declaration as a male. He was allocated a cell and bed space in line with standard procedures.
