Renowned afrobeat musician, Burna Boy, has cautioned his fans against involving him in the ongoing nationwide hunger protest.
Nigerian youths began a 10-day protest against economic hardship on Thursday, August 1. In response, some fans took to social media, urging celebrities to support the cause.
Addressing his fans on his X handle, Burna Boy emphatically stated that he does not want to be dragged into the demonstrations. He referenced the October 20, 2020, EndSARS protest, saying that the fight within him died that day.
Quoting a post from the 2020 protest, he wrote, “The fight in me died on this day. Ogun go doggy anybody wey call my name this time around. Even Jesus was crucified.”
The referenced post from 2020 highlighted a moment when protesters refused to play his songs during their demonstration.
DAILY POST reports that singer Spyro previously called for a nationwide entertainment break, urging fellow celebrities to use their platforms to lend their voices to the protest.
