CAF Denies Reports of AFCON 2025 Postponement to 2026

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has refuted claims that the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been rescheduled to early 2026. The tournament is set to be held in Morocco.

Speculation arose about a possible delay due to overlapping dates with the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled from June 15 to July 13, 2025, in the United States. However, CAF has stated that no decision has been made regarding the AFCON 2025 dates.

“Reports on AFCON 2025 are untrue. The CAF Executive Committee will meet, deliberate, and make a decision on the AFCON 2025 dates. CAF will thereafter issue an official statement on the matter,” CAF announced via its X platform.

Earlier this year, the delayed 2023 AFCON finals were held in Cote d’Ivoire. The Super Eagles finished as runners-up, losing 2-1 to the hosts in the final.
