Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has called on Muslim faithful to embrace unity and peace as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
In a statement released on Sunday, Archbishop Okoh extended his felicitations to Muslims and underscored the importance of unity and cooperation among Nigerians for the betterment of the nation.
“As Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, a festival symbolizing sacrifice, obedience, and faith, I urge all Nigerians to embody these values in our daily lives. Let us set aside our differences and heed the call for unity and peace,” he said.
Archbishop Okoh emphasized the need for national solidarity and divine intervention in addressing Nigeria’s security, economic, and political challenges. He called on citizens to prioritize love, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
“Our nation is in dire need of God’s mercy, peace, and unity. Let us unite in love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Let us pray for divine intervention in our security, economic, and political struggles.”
He also expressed solidarity with those facing hardship, urging collective efforts to build a thriving and inclusive Nigeria.
“May God’s comfort and strength support the displaced, the bereaved, and the traumatized. Let us work together to build a Nigeria where all citizens can thrive, regardless of religion, tribe, or creed. Our diversity is our strength, and together, we can overcome any obstacle.”
Archbishop Okoh concluded his message with a prayer for national peace, unity, and prosperity.
“Let us embrace peace, love, and forgiveness. May God bless Nigeria and grant us peace, unity, and prosperity,” he said.
