Rapper Cardi B has officially outsold her rival Nicki Minaj in the United States, becoming the highest-certified female rapper in US history. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Cardi B has sold 107 million units, surpassing Minaj’s 106 million units.
While Minaj has sold more records overall, many of her hits were features that were not credited to her on the RIAA site, giving Cardi B the edge in certified units.
In other music news, Alicia Keys has achieved a significant milestone with her first-ever diamond single in the U.S. Her 2009 hit collaboration with JAY-Z, “Empire State of Mind,” was recently certified Diamond by the RIAA for selling 10 million units. This marks JAY-Z’s third diamond single, joining “N****s In Paris” with Kanye West and “Umbrella” with Rihanna.
