The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a warning to the public about fraudsters falsely claiming to have contract awards or financial intervention deals from the bank. The apex bank raised the alarm through a statement by its Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, in Abuja on Monday.
The statement clarified that such claims are entirely false and urged Nigerians to avoid falling victim to these scams.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) wishes to alert members of the public to the activities of fraudsters purporting to be in receipt of award letters of contracts related to construction works and special financial interventions on behalf of the Bank,” the statement read.
### **CBN Discontinues Special Projects Funding**
The bank emphasized that it has discontinued direct development interventions and special project funding under its current management. It also noted that it has not issued any public notices for such interventions via social media or other news outlets.
The statement reiterated CBN’s commitment to its primary mandate of maintaining monetary and price stability and ensuring a robust financial system in Nigeria.
### **Call for Vigilance**
The CBN urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or fraudulent publications to law enforcement agencies.
“Any such assertions are fraudulent and should be disregarded. Please be guided accordingly,” the bank advised.
