Charly Boy Responds to Pastor Adeboye’s Tithing Apology, Calls for Refund

Maverick singer Charles Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy, has shared his thoughts on Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s recent apology regarding tithing. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) had previously stated that those who do not pay tithe would not make it to heaven, later retracting that statement.

In his apology, Adeboye said, “I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible. What the Bible says is, ‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God.’”

However, Charly Boy did not hold back in his criticism, asserting that Adeboye’s apology is meaningless unless he refunds the tithes collected from congregants. He expressed his discontent, stating, “Your apology doesn’t mean anything unless you promise to return the tithe money to those who gave it, thinking it would bribe their way to heaven.”

Charly Boy further lamented the hypocrisy he perceives in religious institutions, suggesting that many churchgoers exhibit judgmental behavior while being less genuine. He commented, “Sometimes the nicest people you meet may have bodies covered with tattoos, while the most bitter, judgmental, envious, and wicked people all go to church on Sundays.”

The singer also referenced a past statement by Adeboye, encouraging followers to discard their televisions, calling it indicative of a flawed belief system. He concluded with a strong denunciation of what he sees as hypocrisy in religious leadership, stating, “There is nothing worse than a fault-finding, finger-pointing pastor who is as fake as the bling of a wannabe artist. Apology? When you know exactly what you’re doing? Nonsense, there, Father.”
