Chelsea Keep No. 9 Shirt Vacant Amid Osimhen Transfer Talks

Chelsea have opted to keep the No. 9 shirt vacant as they pursue a potential deal for Victor Osimhen this summer. The Premier League club has updated squad numbers for some players, with Raheem Sterling’s No. 7 shirt being reassigned to new signing Pedro Neto. Joao Felix, another recent addition, has taken the No. 14 shirt, previously worn by Trevor Chalobah.

Despite these changes, the No. 9 shirt remains unassigned. This decision aligns with Chelsea’s ongoing search for a new striker. The club’s attempt to secure Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid fell through, and they are now focused on Osimhen from Napoli. The Nigerian striker has reportedly declined a loan deal without a mandatory purchase option and is holding firm on his salary demands.

Chelsea’s squad numbers are subject to further changes until the transfer window closes at the end of August.
