The Archbishop of the Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, has emphasized the church’s unwavering commitment to nurturing families, especially amid growing social and economic challenges in the country.
Archbishop Ibezim made this declaration during the 2024 Awka Diocesan Anglican Women and Young Wives’ Summit, held at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka.
With the theme *”The Roles of a Godly Wife,”* the event brought together members of the Young Wives Association from 24 Archdeaconries within the diocese. Participants received teachings on the power of prayer, life skills in home management, and strategies for navigating modern challenges while upholding Christian values.
The summit aligns with the association’s vision of fostering Christ-centered mentorship for young wives, empowering them to build godly homes, sustain virtuous living, and contribute to a better society.
Archbishop Ibezim, who also serves as Bishop of the Diocese of Awka, highlighted the church’s recognition of the home as the foundational unit of society and a vital part of the church. He explained that significant investments in women’s training reflect the church’s mission to support families and raise leaders rooted in Christian values.
Addressing the attendees, Dr. Mrs. Martha Ibezim, President of the Women’s Ministry for both the Province of the Niger and the Diocese of Awka, urged women to embody godly virtues, including love, grace, and wisdom. She encouraged them to strengthen their households with diligence and unwavering faith, standing as true partners with their husbands in service to God.
In his sermon, Ven. Chris Nkem-Okafor, Archdeacon of Adazi-Ani, reminded the women to prioritize spiritual growth over external appearances. Guest lecturer Dr. Hope Eze further challenged participants to emulate God’s character, promising that faithfulness to His word would yield divine blessings.
The event featured a series of activities, including a march-past competition, trophy presentations to five top-performing Archdeaconries, special prayers, and a thanksgiving service.
