COMMINUQUE OF THE NATIONAL WORKING COMMITTEE (NWC) OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA) AT ITS MEETING HELD ON FRIDAY 1ST JULY, 2022 AT THE NATIONAL SECRETARIAT COMPLEX, FCT ABUJA
The National Working Committee of our great party, APGA met at the National Secretariat Complex, Abuja to deliberate on salient issues and other sundry matters affecting the party in the build up to the 2023 General Elections. The NWC reviewed the activities leading to the nomination of its candidates across various States of the Federation, particularly as it relates to the conduct of its ward congresses and primary elections nationwide.
The NWC further drew attention and treated with dispatch, all issues pertaining to the unlawful activities of Chief Edozie Njoku, Chief Chekwas Okorie and their co-travellers.
At the end of the meeting, the NWC unanimously resolved as follows:
1. The NWC expresses its deepest appreciation and vote of confidence in the National Chairman, Ozonkpu Dr Victor Ike Oye and commends him on the manner he piloted the activities leading to the successful congresses and primary of APGA nationwide.
2. The NWC congratulated all successful candidates of APGA on their emergence as standard bearers of the party for various elective offices in the forthcoming 2023 General Election.
The NWC further enjoined them to be magnanimous in victory by extending their hands of fellowship to their co-aspirants.
3..The NWC commended all the aspirants of the party that were not successful at the primary election for their sense of professionalism as clearly shown by the rancour-free primary.
The NWC admonished them to accept defeat without recourse to needless litigation.
4. The NWC noted with utter dismay and discontentment, the meddlesome and unlawful activities of Chief Edozie Njoku, Chief Chekwas Okorie and their cohorts in unduly interfering in the internal affairs of APGA and their attempt to ridicule the sanctity of the Supreme Court.
The NWC called on relevant security agencies to swing into action forthwith by investigating, arresting and prosecuting the above-mentioned persons and their cohorts for their illegal and criminal conducts in order to save our fledgling democracy.
5. The NWC called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to continue to show its commitment, dedication and professionalism in defence of our electoral process.
The NWC further commended the Commission for its forthrightness, courage and sense of duty and preparedness in the build-up to the 2023 General Election.
6. The NWC urged INEC to continue the good works it is doing particularly as it relates to monitoring of party primaries and the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise nationwide which will afford citizens of our dear country the opportunity to exercise their franchise.
7. The NWC called on President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, to step up efforts aimed at securing the citizens of our great nation and improving the dire state of the nation’s economy. The NWC noted and commended Mr. President for the assurances of a free, fair and credible election in 2023.
8. The NWC condemned in strongest and unmistakable terms, the horrific massacre of innocent worshippers at Owo in Ondo State and the general insecurity pervading the country and called on the security agencies to ensure that the terrorists are apprehended and dealt with in accordance with the law.
9. The NWC commended the mature and decorous conduct of APGA faithful across the country as exemplified during the recent congresses and primary election of APGA nationwide. The NWC further urged all supporters of APGA across the nation to remain steadfast with the party, assuring them of better dividends of democracy from APGA.
10. The NWC expresses its warmest congratulations to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR as he recently clocked 100 days in office and commends him for the highly successful journey so far.
The NWC enjoins Ndi Anambra to continue to support the Governor in the actualization of his agenda of transforming the State to a livable and smart mega city.
11. The NWC congratulated the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon Justice Olukayode Ariwoola on his assumption of office following the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad, GCFR and urged him to take positive steps towards defending the sanctity and integrity of the judiciary as well as uphold the cause of justice at all times.
12. The NWC thanked Nigerians for their perseverance, patience, sense of nationalism, patriotism and vigour while praying them to remain vigilant and safeguard our fragile nay budding democracy.
13. Finally, the NWC thanked God for the unmerited favours and successes he has granted to our great party and its leadership since its inception and prayed God to continue to sustain the leadership of the party in the journey ahead.
