Popular Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has been detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos State, following his arrest by immigration authorities at the Seme border. PUNCH Metro confirmed that Bobrisky spent the night in a female cell within the police facility.
According to an anonymous source, Bobrisky was placed in the female section due to concerns over his controversial lifestyle and safety. At the time of his detention, there were no other female inmates in the facility. The source explained, “Bobrisky was brought to the FCID around 10 p.m. on Monday after being detained by Immigration at the Seme border. Given his lifestyle and the potential risk of scandal, it was deemed safer to house him alone in a cell located near the female section.”
The spokesperson for the FCID, Lagos, Mayegun Aminat, confirmed Bobrisky’s detention and revealed that remand proceedings to keep him in custody were underway. However, attempts to reach Bobrisky for further clarification on his placement in the female cell were unsuccessful.
Bobrisky was apprehended by officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) while attempting to leave the country via the Seme border. A source indicated that his attempt to flee may have been triggered by knowledge that security agencies were seeking him.
The spokesperson for the NIS, Kenneth Udo, had earlier described Okuneye as a person of interest due to recent public concerns. “He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action,” Udo stated.
Further directives regarding the case are expected as the investigation continues.
