The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) in Awka, Dr. Joe Akabuike, welcomed an accreditation team from the West African College of Surgeons. The team visited the hospital for the re-accreditation of its Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Led by Prof. Patrick Daru from the University of Jos Teaching Hospital, the team aims to evaluate the hospital’s medical service delivery, particularly in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department. Prof. Daru stated that their visit focused on assessing the hospital’s facilities to determine its capability for modern medical service delivery and its readiness to train resident doctors.
In his response, Dr. Akabuike emphasized the hospital’s commitment to the safety, welfare, and well-being of its patients. He also noted the support from the current Anambra State government in enhancing quality healthcare delivery and ensuring security at the hospital.
