The Commissioner of Police, *CP Nnaghe Obono Itam*, welcomed the Head of the Department of Forensic Science from Nnamdi Azikiwe University on September 25, 2024. During the meeting, CP Itam emphasized the importance of self-development for police officers, advocating for them to engage in courses that will improve their skills and enhance policing efficiency.
CP Itam highlighted the need for continuous retraining to expose officers to modern policing strategies, emphasizing the role of updated skills in crime prevention and the protection of lives and property.
He also recalled the ongoing capacity development exercises within the command, which are mandatory for all personnel. These sessions cover key areas such as Police duties, Police Acts and regulations, musketry, riot drills, foot drills, firearm use, human rights, and building the courage and confidence needed for confronting armed criminals and responding to distress calls, all aimed at improving police service delivery in the state.
