On May 20, 2024, Commissioner of Police *CP Nnaghe Obono Itam* delivered a lecture to police personnel attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Awka. He provided guidance and reviewed the modus operandi on criminal investigation, emphasizing investigative competency and skills.
During his address, CP Itam stressed the importance of the CID as the apex body of investigation in the state, responsible for identifying offenders and prosecuting perpetrators when a crime is committed. He highlighted the necessity for operatives to assess petitions accurately, determining whether cases should lead to prosecution, aid in administrative decisions, or involve resource recovery.
The CP urged operatives to enhance their investigative skills to convert information gathered during investigations into actionable intelligence.
Additionally, CP Itam has commenced a tour of Area Commands, Divisional Headquarters, and other formations within the command. This tour aims to assess manpower deployment, personnel positioning, and the physical structure of buildings and offices. So far, he has visited the Area Command Aguata Headquarters, Aguata Divisional Headquarters, Umunze Divisional Headquarters, and the Joint Operation Base headed by the Police in Aguata, among others.
