Creative Digita Technologies has successfully concluded the inaugural edition of its Coding and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Challenge, a three-week digital skills initiative designed to expand access to technology education for students in underserved communities in Nigeria.

The program, which ran from November 3 to November 28, was held at Community High School, Adesan, Mowe, Ogun State, and introduced 30 senior secondary school students aged 12 to 15 to foundational coding and Artificial Intelligence skills. For many of the participants, this was their first structured exposure to technology beyond basic mobile phone use.

Designed to bridge the digital divide, the initiative focused on equipping students with practical and future-ready skills, including prompt engineering, creative content development, and website design using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Students also learned how to responsibly use Artificial Intelligence tools to generate text, images, and videos, gaining insight into how technology can be applied to solve real-world problems.

At the end of the training, participants competed in a structured challenge that tested their understanding, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. Eight students advanced to the finals, with three outstanding participants emerging as winners. Cash prizes of N50,000, N30,000, and N20,000 were awarded to the winner, first runner-up, and second runner-up respectively, in recognition of their excellence.

As part of the program’s innovation, the final challenge assessment was conducted using Creative Digita Technologies’ School Management System, which features a secure online examination and result management module. The digital assessment ensured fairness, transparency, and accurate evaluation of students’ performance in real time. The successful use of the system demonstrated how digital school infrastructure can support modern teaching and assessment practices, even within public and underserved school environments.

Speaking on the impact of the initiative, Mr. Idris Adegbite, Founder and Project Lead of Creative Digita Technologies, emphasized the importance of early digital exposure and modern learning tools.

“For many of these students, this was their first real opportunity to interact with technology in a meaningful way. What we witnessed over three weeks was not just learning, but transformation. Students who were initially unsure of themselves became confident creators, building projects and imagining futures they had never considered before. Beyond the skills, we also showed that digital assessment and learning systems can work effectively in public schools when the right support is provided.”

The project also received strong institutional support from Community High School, Adesan, including the school’s Principal, Vice Principal, Heads of Departments, and teaching staff. Special recognition was given to Mr. Karonwi, the school’s Information Technology Director, Teach for Nigeria Fellow, and President of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Ogun State Branch, for his support from the planning stage through to the closing day of the program.

Commenting on the program and its impact on students, Mr. Karonwi, Information Technology Director at Community High School and a Teach for Nigeria Fellow, expressed his delight at supporting the initiative:

“It has been an absolute privilege to support the Creative Digita Coding and AI Challenge at Community High School. Seeing our students engage with technology, develop new skills, and gain confidence has been inspiring. Initiatives like this are exactly what is needed to prepare young people for the digital world, and we are committed to supporting future editions to reach even more students. Following the success of the inaugural edition, Creative Digita Technologies has announced plans to scale the initiative to 10 public schools next year, training 50 students per edition, while introducing scholarships, mentorship opportunities, access to digital devices, and expanded use of digital school systems.

The organization has called on corporate organizations, CSR teams, philanthropists, education stakeholders, and development partners whose interests align with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth) to support the expansion of the initiative to more underserved communities across Nigeria.

Creative Digita Technologies reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that access to digital opportunity and modern education systems is determined by talent and curiosity, not geography or economic background.
