Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, by 2%, lowering it from N990 per litre to N970 per litre. The reduction, announced over the weekend, is aimed at appreciating the support of Nigerians and thanking the government for its role in the success of the refinery.
Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, confirmed the price cut, explaining that it was a gesture of gratitude towards the Nigerian people for their unwavering support, which has helped bring the refinery to fruition. The price reduction also aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting domestic enterprises and complementing government initiatives for the nation’s collective well-being.
Chiejina emphasized that while the refinery is adjusting its pricing, it would not compromise on the quality of its products, ensuring that all petrol supplied is environmentally friendly and sustainable. He reassured Nigerians that the refinery is ramping up production to meet and exceed domestic fuel consumption, thus addressing any concerns about supply shortages.
Meanwhile, oil marketers under the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) have begun negotiations with Dangote Refinery for terms to lift petrol directly from the facility. PETROAN Chairman Billy Gillis-Harry confirmed that negotiations were underway to establish clear terms for quantity, pricing, and logistics to streamline operations and reduce unnecessary costs and delays.
Additionally, members of the Major Energy Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) have already started lifting petrol directly from the Dangote Refinery following approval from the Federal Government to bypass the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in the process.
