Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals announced yesterday that it is pursuing an out-of-court settlement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and six others regarding petrol import licenses issued by the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The refinery had previously filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, challenging the issuance of these licenses and seeking N100 billion in damages. However, the company, in a statement signed by Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer Anthony Chiejine, confirmed that discussions for an amicable resolution were underway, in light of recent policy changes by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The court has adjourned the matter until January 2025, awaiting a formal report on the settlement.
