Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has attributed his success in the entertainment industry to his values rather than his affluent background.
In a recent appearance on the American podcast ‘Business Untitled,’ Davido emphasized that while he comes from a wealthy family, his achievements in music and entertainment are a result of his talent and principles.
Davido pointed out that despite the presence of individuals from even wealthier backgrounds attempting to establish themselves in the entertainment sector, not all have achieved the level of success he has attained.
He remarked, “There are many billionaires in Nigeria, even richer than my father… And there are people [billionaire’s children] who have tried to do what I have tried to do: music, entertainment, business. But mine has been successful because of my values.”
Reflecting on his journey in the music industry, Davido acknowledged that his family’s wealth presented a unique challenge when he initially pursued music. However, he emphasized that his acceptance and success in the industry were solely based on his talent and dedication to his craft.
“The biggest challenge I had when I started music was that my father is wealthy. But I got accepted for one reason, and that reason is that I am good, talented. I don’t think I would have ever been accepted if I wasn’t good at what I do,” Davido affirmed.
