Nigerian Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his celebrity status earns him special treatment worldwide, including invitations to presidential dinners in most countries. The singer shared this in a recent interview with Kiss Fresh London, noting that the only exceptions are the United States and the United Kingdom.
Davido highlighted that his fanbase extends to global influencers, including the World Bank president and leaders of major nations. “Every country we go to, the President invites us for dinner except London [United Kingdom] and the United States of America,” he said, adding that the warm reception he receives reflects the international impact of Nigerian music and culture.
He noted that he feels most respected in Africa, which is why he enjoys his African tours more than those in Europe or America, despite the financial gains abroad. Davido also recalled how his Jamaican collaborator, YG Marley, was amazed by the fan love in Nigeria during their recent music video shoot for their hit “Awuke.”
