Famous Afrobeat musician Davido has clarified that there is no conflict between him and fellow artist Wizkid. In a recent interview on BBC radio, Davido explained the rationale behind hanging out with Wizkid prior to the launch of his Timeless album in 2023.
He revealed that the hangout was intended to demonstrate to fans that there was no animosity between the two artists and to ensure that the album release was free from drama.
In a video shared on Instagram by bwetv.ng, Davido recounted his efforts to reach out to one of his key fans, Tomiwa, to prevent any clashes involving Wizkid’s supporters, known as FC. “I reached out to one of my fans, Tomiwa. I called him and said, look, my album is coming out on Thursday. Please leave all these Wizkid fans. Please don’t fight anybody,” he said.
Davido mentioned that he had recently spent time with Wizkid and wanted to set a positive tone leading up to his album release. However, he noted that despite his request for peace, Tomiwa ended up getting into a confrontation, resulting in the album leaking two days before its official launch. “But these fans are amazing as well; they also have positive sides,” he added.
