Don Jazzy and Wizkid Resolve Rift After Social Media Fallout

Lagos – Music executive Don Jazzy and Afrobeats megastar Wizkid have quashed any rumors of a rift following their recent social media fallout. The reconciliation comes after Don Jazzy publicly appreciated Wizkid for endorsing Ayra Starr’s sophomore album, ‘The Year I Turned 21.’

Wizkid took to his X handle to promote the album, which was released on Friday, sharing the album cover and streaming link with the caption: “Superstar [love and eagle emojis].” In response, Don Jazzy reposted Wizkid’s tweet, adding, “Thanks Big Wiz [eagle emoji].”

This public exchange of appreciation follows a previous incident where Wizkid appeared to take a jab at Don Jazzy after Mavin Records signee Ladipoe seemingly ridiculed Wizkid for his comment that “hip hop is dead.” When a fan brought Ladipoe’s post to Wizkid’s attention, he responded, “Lol, never chatting with anyone signed to an influencer. Next,” and retweeted two tweets suggesting that Don Jazzy, the head of Mavin Records, was merely an influencer.

Wizkid’s subtle dig at Don Jazzy sparked backlash on social media, with various celebrities, including skit makers Mr Macaroni and Nasboi, and reality stars Doyin and Tacha, criticizing Wizkid for disrespecting the Mavin boss. In reaction to the incident, Don Jazzy unfollowed Wizkid on Instagram.
