The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, has been conferred with a Peace Ambassador Award by the Chartered Institute of Educational Practitioners, United Kingdom (CIEPUK), at its 2024 Investiture Ceremony.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Global Peace Building Network, was held at Paul University, Awka, with the theme: *“Knowledge Economy as an Intellectual Driver for World Peace and Development.”*
In his address, the President of CIEPUK, Professor Marcel Ezewonye, emphasized the organization’s commitment to youth empowerment through education and skill development. He noted that these efforts are aimed at fostering character reformation and nurturing responsible citizens for a better society.
Dr. Alexander Agbaenyi, Country Director of the Global Peace Building Network, highlighted the collaborative efforts of the two organizations in promoting peace and progress through qualitative education and global peace initiatives.
Accepting the award, Dr. Mefor expressed gratitude to the organizations for their dedication to peacebuilding and education. He also pledged to contribute further by offering lectures under the CIEPUK program at Paul University. Dr. Mefor reiterated the Anambra State government’s commitment to education through initiatives like free education policies, recruitment of qualified teachers, and other programs aimed at enhancing learning opportunities for children in the state.
Venerable Professor Obiora Nwosu, Vice-Chancellor of Paul University, applauded the efforts of the groups, affirming the university’s partnership in promoting their agenda for peace and education.
