The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) has commissioned ten solar-powered pumping systems in Senegal’s Kédougou region, aiming to enhance agricultural productivity through sustainable energy solutions.
The project, implemented by the NGO SEM Fund with technical and financial support from ECREEE via the ECOWAS Special Intervention Fund (ESIF), is set to transform farming practices in ten communities, including Bandafassi, Damboucoye, Andiel, and Ibel.
These solar-powered systems will allow farmers to irrigate their crops more efficiently, boosting productivity and helping them adapt to the challenges of climate change. The initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals by promoting clean energy in rural areas, thereby supporting local farmers in creating a more sustainable and secure agricultural future.
