Edo PDP Launches 200-Man Campaign Council for Governorship Election

In a bid to secure victory in the forthcoming governorship election slated for September 21, 2024, the Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a 200-member Campaign Council.

Tony Anenih Jnr, the Organising Secretary of Edo PDP, disclosed that the council comprises adept party members meticulously selected to ensure the success of the party’s candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo.

Anenih outlined the campaign structure, which includes an Advisory Council chaired by Governor Godwin Obaseki, a Management Committee, and a State Campaign Council comprising 200 prominent PDP members. Additionally, the women’s wing, headed by Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, and Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, along with the youth wing led by Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, were established.

Highlighting the meticulous selection process overseen by party leaders, including Governor Obaseki, Anenih expressed confidence in the capability of the chosen members to deliver victory for Dr. Asue Ighodalo.

The campaign structure features various directorates focused on finance, contact, mobilization, media/publicity, field operations, and security, among others. Anenih emphasized the symbiotic relationship between the youth and women’s wings and other directorates, underscoring their critical roles in the campaign.

In a separate development, Edo State Deputy Governor, Marvellous Omobayo, praised the developmental strides of the Obaseki-led administration, advocating for continuity under the PDP and Dr. Ighodalo’s leadership.

Commending Governor Obaseki’s foresight in infrastructure development, Omobayo reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the administration’s successful conclusion and ensuring victory for the PDP in the upcoming election.

During a courtesy visit by members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Benin Branch, Omobayo pledged to uphold the noble ideals of the engineering profession, expressing gratitude for the engineering family’s support.

Engr Evukowhiroro Ojeba, Chairman of NSE Benin Branch, lauded Omobayo’s historic elevation as the first engineer in Edo to hold the position of Deputy Governor, emphasizing the engineering community’s pride in his achievement.

The visit culminated in the presentation of a souvenir and congratulatory card to Omobayo by the engineering leadership, underscoring their solidarity and support for their esteemed colleague.
