Edo Police Command Dismisses Officer for Exposing Colleague in Viral Video After Alleged Extortion Attempt

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the dismissal of Inspector Edith Uduma, who was involved in exposing Sgt. Abraham Uzuobo in a viral video after his alleged assault of a minor. Sgt. Uzuobo was initially dismissed following investigations into allegations that he had raped a minor detained at the South-Ibie Police Division three weeks ago.

In an update, Police Public Relations Officer Moses Yamu stated that Uduma, who recorded the video, allegedly sought to exploit the incident financially. According to the police report, Uduma, in collaboration with her husband, Inspector Ibrahim Mohammed, demanded N1 million from Uzuobo in exchange for withholding the video from public view. When Uzuobo reportedly offered only N45,000, Uduma and her husband decided to share the footage online and report it to their superiors.

Following an orderly room trial, the police command dismissed both Uzuobo and Uduma. Inspector Ibrahim Mohammed was demoted to the rank of Sergeant for his involvement in the attempted extortion.
