In a swift response to a distressing case of child exploitation, the Edo State Government has intervened to rescue a four-year-old girl who was allegedly exploited for adult content by her own father.
Announcing the rescue, the state Commissioner for Health, Samuel Alli, confirmed on Monday via X.com that the child is now under the care of the state government and will receive comprehensive medical examination and attention.
Accompanied by photos of the rescued child, Commissioner Alli assured the public of the government’s commitment to ensuring the welfare and safety of all children in the state. He stated, “The child is now in our custody for proper medical examination and care. We will keep you updated on her welfare. Thank you all for your contributions to ensure our kids are safe and sound both in health and mind.”
The intervention by the state government comes in the wake of condemnation by the Nigeria Police Force of the exploitation and subsequent arrest of the child’s father in connection with the incident.
