EFCC Invites Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan Over Allegations of Bribery Against Officials

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, and Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, to assist with an investigation into bribery allegations involving some of its personnel.

This action follows a viral video posted by Otse, in which Bobrisky claimed that unnamed EFCC officers solicited N15 million from him to dismiss money laundering charges. The Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has ordered an immediate probe into these claims.

Bobrisky was previously arraigned on six charges related to currency abuse and money laundering, amounting to N127,780,877.98. These transactions were allegedly deposited into his company’s Eco Bank account between September 2021 and April 2024. However, two of the charges were withdrawn after the EFCC’s counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, informed the court of an agreement reached with Bobrisky.

Despite the withdrawal of the charges, Bobrisky was convicted for abusing the nation’s currency.

In a statement on Tuesday, Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, confirmed the invitation extended to both individuals to assist investigators in uncovering the truth behind the bribery allegations. Oyewale emphasized that the EFCC remains committed to its core values of integrity and professionalism.

“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and the findings will be made public accordingly,” he stated.
