No fewer than 40 indigent market women were weekend, at Oduwanu Street Market, near Bridgehead Market, Fegge, Onitsha South Local Government Area, empowered with cash, bags of rice, aprons, cartons of indomie, among others from the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Admin Foundation, Chief Promise Egbeji, during the launch of “Feed a Family Programme” in the area.
The kind gesture according to Chief Egbeji, was in line with the marvelous things Governor Charles Soludo is doing in Onitsha South constituency,
“It is overwhelming, so I decided to help, support him in my little way. Secondly, my foundation is about touching lives positively, i love seeing people smile and touching lives is really my happiness and that’s why I help the needy and the poor, for them to be satisfied.
“I united the youths of Onitsha South by organising a very huge football match that comprises #1 million, #500,000, #300,000, #100,000 for the first, second, third, fourth prices and consolation prices of #50,000 to the 10 wards in Onitsha South constituency.
“I have gone to Woliwo market and did a very huge empowerment to the traders and the youths. I have empowered 30 youths with a cash of #100,000 each to add to what they do or to look for what to do.
”I also went to Primary and Secondary schools and donated writing materials and have helped them financially too.
“Today, I am at Oduwanu market and I gave mothers rice, indomie, cash prices because I love seeing mothers happy. I like putting smiles on the faces of people and other things to help the needy,” he stated
He however maintained that his philanthropic gestures has no political undertone but because he was born and brought up in Fegge, Onitsha South and also has a foundation at Delta State, that he really noticed unhappy faces around and decided to put smiles on them, stating that Onitsha South is where he was bred.
He stated that he has other plans like marathon race which will come up soon with cash prices for the winners and it comprises of males and females, noting that the female gender are complaining of being left behind.
“We are hoping to establish holiday lessons for Primary and Secondary Schools, because our youths use the holiday period to indulge in juvenile delinquency, that’s why we want to get them together for the period of that one month “.
He further appreciated the leadership of Governor Soludo for the remarkable works done so far in the area, stated that for the first time, a sitting Governor gives Onitsha south the chance of some political appointments like Commissioner for Special Duties and National APGA Chairman.
”The roads in Onitsha South are like London, in short the Governor is doing marvelously well here and the state in general .
Expressing satisfaction, the leader of the market, Mrs Obiageli Okeke thanked Chief Egbeji for deeming it fit to remember them especially at this time of economic quagmire in the country, and prayed that God in His infinite mercy will bless him abundantly.
Other beneficiaries were Mrs Rose Oraeri, Esther Ohimin and Esther Duru who could not hold their joy as they were chanting praises to God that”A Saviour Has Come”.
Present at the programme were the South East APGA Women Leader, Hon Ngozi Obidike, Director General,DG, Admin Foundation, Hon.Chinedu Okoro, among others.
