Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, accompanied by senior state government officials, visited the family of Chikezie Okezie Nwamba, the well-known Ogene musician also known as Igbo-Jah, who was tragically shot and killed by a policeman on Friday night.
During the visit, CP Uzuegbu assured the family, relatives, and the people of Enugu State of a prompt and thorough investigation, vowing that justice would be served. He emphasized the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to discipline, noting that officers found guilty of misconduct are held accountable as a deterrent to others.
Expressing his condolences, CP Uzuegbu called on the public to remain confident in the police’s commitment to delivering justice in the matter.
According to DSP Daniel Ndukwe, spokesperson for the Enugu Police Command, Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph has been identified as the officer responsible for the shooting. He is currently in custody and will face legal consequences upon the conclusion of the investigation.
