The Enugwu-Agidi Progressive Union (EPU) USA has officially handed over a newly built and furnished hospital ward, completed doctors’ quarters, and renovated buildings at the Health Centre and Maternity in Enugwu-Agidi, Njikoka Local Government Area, to the Anambra State government.
The projects were commissioned by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, on behalf of Governor Chukwuma Soludo. Dr. Obidike commended EPU USA for supporting the state’s Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP) initiative, urging other communities to emulate their commitment, as the government cannot tackle development challenges alone.
Chief Sunny Okoye, President General of EPU USA, said the initiative was driven by the need to improve healthcare services in Enugwu-Agidi. He appealed to the state government to address lingering issues, including staffing, electricity supply, and the provision of essential medical equipment, to enhance service delivery.
Members of EPU USA, including Dr. Christian Nwankwo and Chief JohnChris Okoye, expressed pride in their contributions and pledged continued support for the union’s leadership to drive further development in their hometown.
The Traditional Ruler of Enugwu-Agidi, Igwe Michael Okekeuche, former Njikoka Council Chairman Mr. Clement Aguiyi, and Professor Emeka Nwankwo lauded the group for addressing critical healthcare challenges in the community. They encouraged other organizations to follow suit for the betterment of Enugwu-Agidi.
The projects signify a major milestone in boosting healthcare access and infrastructure in the area.
