Enyimba’s campaign in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup has come to an end following a 3-1 loss to defending champions Zamalek in Cairo.
Zamalek’s Seifeddine Jaziri scored twice, with Mustafa Shalaby adding another to seal victory for the Egyptian side. Enyimba’s lone goal came from Ifeanyi Ihemekwele.
The result left Enyimba in third place in Group D with five points from six matches, failing to progress to the quarter-finals.
Another Egyptian club, Al Masry, secured their spot in the quarter-finals alongside Zamalek after a 3-1 win over Mozambique’s Black Bulls, finishing the group stage with nine points.
Despite their historic achievements in African football, Nigerian clubs are yet to win the CAF Confederation Cup.
