Fake Drug Factory Uncovered by OCHA Brigade, Six Arrested

In a significant operation, the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade Task Force Team has arrested six individuals involved in a suspected fake drug production factory. The factory, located in Umuoji, Idemili North Council Area, was sealed during the raid, which also led to the arrest of its owner, Mrs. Chinwedu Chukwurah.

Mrs. Chukwurah is accused of “manufacturing, packaging, distributing, and selling substandard and counterfeit paracetamol and Flagyl products.”

Reacting to the development, Comrade Celestine Anere, Managing Director of the OCHA Brigade, stated that the agency discovered the factory during a routine inspection. Further investigation revealed that the factory had been operating for years, distributing fake drugs across the state.

The facility has been sealed off as investigations by the state Ministry of Health and the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) continue. Comrade Anere highlighted that the factory’s environment was not hygienic enough for drug production.

In a related enforcement action, the OCHA Brigade arrested individuals responsible for damaging newly constructed roads and drainages by building unauthorized culverts. These actions have undermined the roads, making them vulnerable to flood damage despite the efforts of the Soludo administration.

Additionally, the enforcement team sealed a building constructed on waterways at Bishop Plaza Marine Modern Market in Onitsha and arrested individuals for trespassing into sealed premises on Niger Street, Onitsha.

Comrade Anere warned that anyone caught trespassing into any sealed-off area or facility would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
