FCT Police Arrest Man Attempting Suicide Over Economic Hardship

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has confirmed the arrest of Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau, who attempted to take his own life. FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, announced in a statement on Monday that the arrest followed a distress call from concerned citizens about a man who had climbed a tall mast belonging to ASO Radio in Katampe.

Responding promptly, police operatives arrived at the scene and successfully persuaded Yushau to come down from the mast. The man cited the worsening economic situation in the country as his reason for attempting suicide, stating, “People are dying everywhere.” He revealed that he had been observing the mast for about a week before deciding to climb it.

SP Adeh emphasized the importance of mental health and urged anyone experiencing distress to seek help from appropriate channels.
